New campaign from Yokohama

Sep 1, 2010

Yokohama launched SmartSolution, a new communication and promotion method targeting fleet owners, truck operators and commercial tire dealers.
The campaign will consist of different advertising methods like prints, dealer materials and a dedicated website. The campaign's messagaging is built up from four different value propositions: longevity (lifecycle costs), efficiency (fuel costs), availability (locations) and dependability (durability and tire life).
“Now more than ever, fleet owners and truck operators are faced with the pressure of effectively managing tires as assets in their business. Tires are the third-largest operating cost for most fleets so they have to make sure that these assets are not only highly productive but have a long service life as well. SmartSolution unifies the benefits that Yokohama commercial products offer, underscoring the advantages created in the fleets’ operation, and thus improvements in the fleets’ bottom line. We work hard to build long-term partnerships with our customers based on trust and mutual respect. No other supplier can deliver so completely on the aspect of dependability, longevity, efficiency and availability than Yokohama. This is why Yokohama is the ‘SmartSolution." said John Cooney, Yokohama director of commercial sales.

Yokohama: Orange is the new green!

Aug 28, 2010

At the upcoming Tire Industry Association Environmental Symposium, Dan Guiney, director of technical services for Yokohama Tire Corp., will discuss the tiremaker’s move into unconventional raw materials – specifically oil derived from orange peels.

The Environmental Symposium will be held Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 at the Ocean City Convention Center in Ocean City, Md.

Guiney’s session, "Orange is the New Green," will focus on the tiremaker’s environmental efforts as they impact tire development. Yokohama is using orange oil as a substitute for petroleum in one of its tire lines, and is actively reducing the carbon footprint of its manufacturing plants.

"Companies – not just in the tire industry – are looking for new and innovative ways to reduce their dependency on raw materials that are often produced in volatile corners of the world. If you are involved in any aspect of manufacturing within the tire industry, you'll benefit from the insight and experience Dan possesses," said Dick Gust, TIA Environmental Advisory Council co-chair.
