Determining a tires date of fabrication

Aug 29, 2010

Want to check out when was your tire fabricated? You checked it but didn't find any date, or date format? Well, the date of fabrication is printed on every tire, but has to comply with the requirements of The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
Accordin to The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the Tire Identification Number has to be a combination of the letter DOT followed by ten, eleven or twelve letters and/or numbers that identify the manufacturing location, tire size and manufacturer's code, along with the week and year the tire was manufactured.
This tire was fabricated during the 49th week of the year 2005

The entire Tire Identification Number is required to be printed on one sidewall of every tire.
